BEAUTIFUL LIGHT. WARM, FRIENDLY FACES. A classic yet refreshing approach to visual storytelling. These are the captivating qualities of a Jon Jensen photograph. Born in the American Midwest and trained at Chicago's renowned architectural photography firm, Hedrich Blessing, Jon began his solo career in New York City shooting for magazines such as Metropolitan Home and Martha Stewart Living. At age 29, he was named one of the year's top young photographers by American Photographer magazine. Heading west to San Francisco, he collaborated with catalog clients such as Smith & Hawken, Spiegel and Lands' End. Jon's assignments have taken him far and wide, from luxury resorts in the south of France to the ranch lands of Bruneau, Idaho. Shooting primarily on location, he is adept at working with what's available, whether a cargo van full of grip gear or a simply radiant sun. "It's pretty much about the light," says Jon, "capturing it with your subject, in all its glory." Jon now lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife and daughter in an old bungalow he remodeled himself. When he's not shooting, he can be seen cycling around town, tending his organic vegetable garden, or trolling Pacific Northwest waters for wild trout and steelhead. A partial list of Jon's clients includes:
